South Doublehead

A nice, short but steep hike close by HNN.   There are two  trailheads  on Dundee Road, near Black Mountain Ski area.   The trail from the main parking area heads up N. Doublehead. We went past this to find the New Trail that goes straight up S. Doublehead.

There was still a ton of snow on the ground so we were on snowshoes - and I was glad I paid extra for the heel risers for climbing! 
It took about 2 hours to go the 1.3 miles - because those miles were mostly vertical!

I think there are really nice views from the summit - probably looking down towards the East Branch, but we were in the clouds and experiencing some freezing rain so we couldn't see much at all!
